I’m Donna Bordeaux, CPA with CampgroundAccounting.com and I want to talk to you about the importance of using your website to its fullest extent. Here are some tips to ensure that it is performing well for you. One of the biggest ways you can help that is to include great pictures and photographs. That helps your website to be more inviting and lures the visitor deeper into your website to learn more about your Campground or RV Park and what your offer – what you are all about. This helps to entice potential visitors to “book through” or make that reservation.
Nowadays, we’re all pretty lazy. We don’t like to read all that much. While some content is really good, it doesn’t need to be the primary focus of each page. I don’t know if you saw it, but a study was done by Travelocity recently which showed that if you include 20 high-resolution photos on your website, you could receive 150% more engagement and a 22% increase in bookings. Now, what would you do if your bookings went up by 22% today? I think you’d probably bust a flip. You’d be pretty happy! So, let’s help your website help you.
Another really great fact is video. You’re watching my video today and that’s probably a lot more fun than navigating of a bunch of words and it is a lot easier. It makes it feel like a little less work. Let’s give your prospective guests the same opportunity to see and learn about your Campground or RV Park, by using video. Video is a hot topic on your website for campgrounds. Let people experience it before they make the booking and confirm to them that your RV Park looks like what they think it will and don’t disappoint them. Other studies have shown that people were 85% more likely to buy a product after they view a video. So what do you think about putting that video on your website, showing all the wonderful features of your campgrounds, your amenities, not just still shots?
People want to see what it’s going to look like when they get there and how they will feel when they’re there. So include pictures of people having fun, whether it’s sitting around the campground, diving into the pool, jumping on your jump pad, walking around and relaxing, laying back in a chair or just having a great time. Show pictures of people having fun; that’s definitely it.
I was at a conference last weekend. Somebody asked about having high-resolution photos on their website. And one of the members in our audience said, yes, I have high-resolution photos on mine. And she said they’re stock photos. No – no stock photos! Is your campground really that horrible that you have to show somebody else’s pictures? Come on. I know you’ve got some beauties out there, so get those high-resolution photos, and get them up on your website.
Don’t make them little tiny pictures on the side, either. Make them big enough to be attractive to people. Make sure that is a focal point that people can look at and learn about your campsite and entice them to book. And don’t forget, have that link right after where you’ve got the button where they can book that site right there. Streamline your process. Make sure that your website is working as hard as it possibly can for you. It’s your best employee. Show at least 20 high-resolution photos throughout your website. Fill that website with photos so people can experience it before they book. You will see an increase in your bookings if you do. And, don’t forget that Video!
Please let me know how this goes. Let me know if you make some improvements to your site and what the effects were. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks. I’m Donna Bordeaux again with Campground Accounting.
